Saturday at work there was a conference, so John went into work to help setup or do whatever needed to be done. They had a company bringing in decorations and it was getting tedious having to badge them in as they went back and forth. Someone told John to hit a button under the desk, which would allow the doors to stay unlocked and open. John went to the desk and there were three buttons. He hit the first and heard a door unlock, however it was the wrong door. So naturally John tried the next button. Once again he heard a door unlock, but again it was the wrong door. John hit the third and last button, but nothing happened. It wasn't hitting the same as the other two so he started fiddling with it, thinking it wasn't connecting. He hit it a few more times before he finally gave up.
He had a nice weekend and showed up for work this morning la-di-da. One of the security guards, whom John is friendly with, walked up to John and tells him this whole story about how on Saturday he walked out of the building and there was a SWAT team surrounding the building, guns drawn and ready, yelling orders at him. Oops. Apparently the third button was the silent alarm. John figures he probably hit it eight or so times....they must have really thought there was a problem to send a whole team.
John is now in the middle of many jokes at work. I about died when he told me. At least it makes for a good story.
