Bouldering Competition

On March 7th the boys competed in their first bouldering competition. We knew they were beginners in comparison to many of the other kids (ages 7-13) so we knew they had little chance of winning, but that it would be great experience for learning the ropes of competitive climbing. They got off to a bit of a slow start, but once they got going they were awesome!!! My favorite routes were the naturals where climbers were not permitted to use hand holds, only grooves or cracks in the "natural stone." They were definitely difficult climbs, but they're also where their climbing skills were able to shine.
We all learned so much and can go into the next competition better prepared.
It is so much fun watching them climb. We love it that they are excited about it and are making supportive friends in the club. Their little muscles are becoming more defined and they are both much stronger than they were a couple months ago.
After the competition they held a drawing and thankfully each kid left with a prize...made all them so happy. The boys both won a steel water bottle, gloves/compass.
On Monday they held a mini competition with just the kids in the club and Carson took 3rd! It wasn't a real competition but we were still excited for him nonetheless. Way to go boys!

Jameson just hung out in the stroller and danced to the music.
