Just after Christmas Anna Mae and I began planning a surprise party for my mom. This past Saturday the cake was picked up, Preston had connections at Cold Stone and was able to make and decorate a cake for her, Anna and I had purchased plates, decorations and food galore...well, Thursday my mom came down with the flu and was most definitely still sick on Saturday. We cancelled the surprise party, broke the news to my mom-who had been a little hurt/disappointed no one had said much about her birthday, and told her friends we would still do a party on Monday night.
After most of the adults had left the kids took the balloons up to the balcony and threw them all off at once. They were so well-behaved during the party and didn't get loud and crazy until everyone had left. Successful night.
We didn't expect much of a showing, but most of her friends were still able to make it and we had a great party! Happy Birthday to the greatest mom, you deserve it!
