February 6th we decided to get out and ski Mirror Lake Highway. We are very familiar with the area in the Summer/Fall, but have never bee up there in the dead of winter...it was gorgeous! The parking area was literally packed with cars parking a 1/2 mile down the road, but once we headed up it was surprisingly quiet. Aside from one other skier and a few snowmobiles, we didn't see anyone for hours. We found a campsite the boy scouts had recently vacated. The fire was still smoldering, so naturally John found some wood and got it going again. The boys loved unclipping and playing around, and the fire was so nice to warm up by. We spent a lot of time skiing down the hills and just goofing around. We are hoping to make it up there again and cook hot dogs and relax...but the 60 degree days we've had have brought on horrible Spring Fever and we aren't thinking so much about winter sports anymore so we'll see. I can say we've enjoyed this winter more than any other. Just getting out in the fresh air is so good for the soul...and it helps that the boys love it as well.
