In September we were so excited to head to Disneyland. Since I'm starting a nursing program in January, and this is Carson's last year of junior high, we just HAD to fit in one more trip before life becomes insane. My dad couldn't come, but my mom could so we booked at suit at Springhill Suites. We also have been wanting to take the boys on a plane for years so we decided this was the time. I found a great deal on flights to Long Beach and the boys were as excited for the flight as the were Disneyland.
Due to a hurricane in Florida, DisneyWorld was shut down, and thousand of people rerouted to Disneyland. So, what should have been a nice quiet week was very busy. However, most of the ride lines weren't too bad. The boys loved Matterhorn and discovered they could go in as a single rider and not have to wait in line. A couple times we handed the boys a phone and told them to have fun, but they soon realized they preferred to ride as a family.
We spent four days in Disney and one in California Adventure. I was so worried about my vertigo, but something to do with the mixture of the plane ride and crazy rides, seems to have helped and I'm having less issues with it than I have in years. So wonderful.
It was so much fun to see how excited the boys were. Carson watched YouTube videos on Disney rides for months ahead of time and Jameson was convinced we were headed to Mickey Mouse Club House.
Our plane landed early, so we grabbed some food and spent the day at Long Beach. It was so much fun jumping around in waves with the older boys while my mom played with Jameson on the beach and in the shallow water. We have a wonderful parenting moment and didn't put any sunscreen on the boys so they were torched by the end of the day. Oops.
It was such a fantastic trip, and I'm so glad my mom was able to come. We just love Disneyland and love going for so many days because we just chill. Hop on rides, eat, eat churros, ride some more, sit around, eat again...whatever we feel like doing in the moment.
Jameson was so brave and rode every ride he was tall enough for. Just like Landon he was disappointed he couldn't ride California Screamin', and still talks about riding it when he's taller. Carson's favorite rides was Matterhorn, Landon's was Indiana Jones, and Jameson's was Star tours, and mine is Pirates. We rode all these rides more times than I could possibly keep track of.
The pictures drive me nuts since they uploaded all out of order, but one of my favorite memories was taking Jameson to see Tigger. While waiting in line he picked up a perfect fall leaf and closely inspected it. He didn't say a word, but held onto this leaf. When it was his turn he walked up to Tigger and handed him the leaf. Tigger made a big presentation of taking the leaf, showing Jameson how much he loved it, and then placed onto of his own head. If you look closely in the photo you can see the leaf. It was so sweet and innocent, my sweet little J giving Tigger this beautiful leaf.
I'm so thankful we were able to take this fun vacation. People wonder why we always take our big vacations to Disney-it's because we all have such a great time, and even my teenager can act like a child with no judgement from those around him.
